| | Helpful tips for taking photos of score sheets.
Fill the frame with the score sheet. You can either: 1) turn the sheet sideways and have phone in portrait orientation, or 2) have the sheet in normal position and have your phone to landscape orientation to match.
Phones generally have an “auto-rotation” function that can be turned off or on and often it helps to adjust this setting so your phone matches the orientation of your subject. Don’t worry about image being sent sideways for it can easily be rotated with a single click when received. Filling the frame is more important.
Accessing the auto-rotation function varies with different phones but generally a control screen is displayed when swiping up from the bottom or down from the top. There you’ll see a few icons. Look for an icon with arrows going around a circle and padlock being locked or unlocked. Every time you tap it you toggle the setting on or off. Turning auto-rotation off will lock the phone in the orientation you are holding it.
Ensure there is plenty of light on the sheet! Your camera will focus much faster on a well lit subject than a poorly lit one and the contrast and legibility of the image is superior. Turn on the flash light of your phone and you will avoid shadows. Try putting the sheet on a pool table under the table lights. You can put the sheet on the floor and use the flash light of your phone to illuminate it when aiming straight down.
If possible position your phone perpendicular to the paper so the image of the score sheet isn’t skewed.
Please review your photo before sending it and try again if needed before sending it. Don't send blurry photos. |
